Exeter-Milligan Public Schools

The EMF Bobcats were back in action on Tuesday at the Sandy Creek Invite in Clay Center. It was a loaded field, featuring 16 teams and 78 golfers. Mother Nature was very cooperative, providing a day in the mid 70's with a slight breeze, and the scoring reflected the beautiful weather. Jacob Klooz led the way for the Cats, carding a season-best 75 and putting himself in a three way playoff for 1st place. Jett Hollister of Doniphan-Trumbull was able to out last Klooz and Sutton's Harrison Herndon to win the playoff on the second hole, Herndon finished in 2nd , and Klooz in 3rd. The Bobcats; however, were far from done for the day as the rest of the squad came to play as well. EMF was able to post 3 scores in the 80's: Aidan Vavra(80-10th place), Carter Milton(81), and Mikey Bartu(85). Those scores added up to a team score of 321 which was enough to force a team playoff with Sutton, who had an 8 stroke lead after nine. For the playoff, the top four scorers for both teams would all play the hole at the same time, taking total scores at the end of the hole to determine the winner. On the first playoff hole, 7 of 8 player were safely in the fair way or found decent lies in the rough, but EMF's Milton leaked his drive barely into a dry weed-filled creek bed. After some deliberation, he took an aggressive swing and was able to find the green with what he called "A shot of a lifetime." After a few more approaches and chips, all 8 players found themselves with par or birdie putts. None of the birdies dropped, but as Sutton made 2 pars and 2 bogeys, EMF was sitting at 2 pars and 1 bogey with Senior Aidan Vavra standing over a 3 footer for the win. He drained it to give EMF a hard fought victory, their second invite title of the season. The Cats will be at it again next week @Southern Dual on Monday, @Red Cloud(Blue Hill Scramble) on Tuesday, and @Palmyra on Wednesday.
